Prospective Students
Graduate students at Northern Illinois University are classified as either degree-seeking or as a non-degree-seeking student-at-large. Degree-seeking students are admitted into a specific program, completion of which leads to the award of a graduate degree. Students-at-large have permission of the Graduate School to enroll in graduate courses. Yet, some academic programs do not permit SALs to register for classes.
Regardless of your enrollment intentions, you can apply online for admission to a program or for student-at-large status.
