Established in 1966, the Graduate Colloquium is supported entirely by fees paid by graduate students. Working with departments, academic programs, and centers, the Graduate Colloquium Committee co-sponsors lectures, seminars, and creative presentations. Those events bring to campus leading scholars, artists, professionals, and public figures. The events are open to graduate students, faculty, and members of the surrounding community.
Sponsorship of a graduate colloquium requires cooperation between the Graduate School and an eligible campus entity. The colloquium committee has established guidelines for preparing proposals when co-sponsorship is desired.
Each semester the Graduate Colloquium and Newsletter Office also publishes a newsletter that provides a listing of upcoming Colloquium speakers and other useful information as well as highlighting the achievements of NIU's graduate students. Students, faculty and staff are welcome to submit items for possible inclusion in the newsletter to gscolloq@niu.edu.
